Malnutrition
Due to lack of protein (meats) and lack of vitamins, hungry children are often malnourished. Children facing malnutrition will face problems such as slow development. They may also complain of headaches, stomachaches, or suffer from diarrhea. With issues like this, children will lose focus in school and may have trouble getting along with their peers due to their insufferable hunger. With weak bodies, children become vulnerable to deadly disease.
Malnourished pregnant women and new mothers, especially those who are breastfeeding, will not only suffer from the effects of undernourishment themselves, but have a greatly increased chance of their child slowly developing and being stunted in growth. In this instance, hunger not only consumes one life, but continues onto another.
